A transformative journey — Mairtín's hair restoration experience with Tir na nÓg Clinic

For Mairtín Kearney, a solicitor based in Blackrock, Co Dublin, the journey to find a solution for his hair loss began 16 years ago. Despite initial hesitation and multiple consultations at various clinics, it was his discovery of Tir na nÓg Clinic that reignited his hope. From the first consultation with Dr Kevin McDonald, he felt a sense of trust and genuine care.

At the age of 34, Mairtín noticed his thinning hair in photographs from a wedding he attended. Although it didn't significantly affect him initially, he became increasingly interested in finding a solution. Inspired by public figures undergoing hair transplants, Mairtín began his research and consultations, even using medications like Finasteride and Regaine. However, the high cost of the surgery (he was quoted €35,000 in 2007) and uncertainties prevented him from proceeding. His hair loss accelerated in subsequent years until a friend's successful hair transplant in 2021 inspired him to explore treatment options once again. A fortuitous encounter with an advertisement for Tir na nOg Clinic in The Irish Times in 2022 sparked Mairtín's decision to schedule an appointment and embark on a new chapter.
