Proud coaches of the Galway Black Dragon Kickboxing Gym Clodagh & Pete Foley from Annaghdown with their eleven year old son Finn who passed his Junior Black Belt Grading test recently with an A+ result.Finn will have to wait until he turns 16 before being eligible to test for his 1st Dan Black Belt but he is well on track.Finn has been training in the sport of Kickboxing for seven and a half years and is an active fighter with the club.He will fight on the undercard of the upcoming International Ireland V France Team Event in the Clayton Hotel on Saturday February 23 where he will face off with a Mayo opponent.

Maree Basketball Club is celebrating on the double after the men’s Superleague side stunned league leaders Belfast Star at the weekend, and the club’s women’s division one side eased into the cup semi-finals of the cup with a 30-point win away to Limerick Celtics.

The men’s side pulled off the shock of the season to date when ending Star’s seven-game winning run. In a superb display in Belfast, Maree climbed clear of the danger zone with an 80-74 win.

Alan Murphy signs new contract with Galway United

Alan Murphy has signed a contract extension with Galway United for the 2019 SSE Airtricity League season.

Over the last two seasons Murphy has guided United's under-17 team to the semi-final stage of the league play-offs and the midfielder wrote his name into the club's history books when he became United's record league goalscorer when he scored his 75th league goal for the Tribesmen against Cobh Ramblers in April.
