Donoghue’s newcomers help Galway to easy league win

Galway can be expected to bag a second National Hurling League win when they head to Netwatch Cullen Park to take on Carlow on Sunday (2pm).
Having kickstarted their campaign with a 1-27 to 2-15 win over Laois at Pearse Stadium, manager Micheal Donoghue is expected to use the Carlow outing as another chance to look at squad newcomers.

Connacht’s finest handballers were honoured in Claremorris on Saturday night in what was a successful night for Galway Handball.
Martin Mulkerrins was named Connacht Men’s Player of the Year for 2018 after becoming the first Galway man to win the senior 40x20 All Ireland Championship. He also captained Team Ireland at the World Championships in Minnesota where he reached the 40x20 final, losing out in two tight games to Killian Carroll.

The west and east of the county are represented in All Ireland semi-finals on Sunday. An Spidéal take on Naomh Eanna in the intermediate club football championship in Pairc Tailteann, Navan; Oranmore Maree face Noamh Gall in the intermediate hurling championship at Parnell Park, both at 2pm.
Huge fixtures for both clubs, An Spidéal became the first Galway club to claim the Connacht crown in eight years when they overcame Roscommon outfit Feurty by 1-14 to 0-16, while Oranmore Maree are favourites to advance to this year's decider.
