Oranmore’s Competitions Coach, Richard Murphy, took the Gold medal in the Northern Ireland Open 2016 Judo contest on April 9/10. He won all his fights by ippon(a perfect throw for a perfect score), beating British Open Champion Robert Morrow (in picture on right) to the top spot in Derry recently.

The Galway camogie ladies head to St Brendan’s Park in Birr on Saturday to take on Limerick in the Irish Daily Star division one National League semi-final (4pm).
Galway, under the new management team this season of Ollie Bergin (Kinvara), Joan Poland (Eyrecourt), Francis Larkin (Killimor) and David Forde (Clarinbridge), are enjoying a good run of form with five wins on the trot in the league and they will be expected by many pundits to be too strong for the Treaty women on Saturday too.

Galway Badminton claimed an All Ireland title at The University of Limerick Sports Arena on Saturday. The Galway grade G team secured the title with wins over Munster's Kerry and Leinster's Meath, having come through the Connacht qualifiers beating Mayo. This team is made up of players from clubs across Galway, including Ardrahan, Ballygar, Claregalway, Furbo, the Galway Lawn Tennis Club in Salthill, and Oranmore.
