Contract for Aran Island air services extended

Air services to the Aran Islands are set to continue following approval for the extension of the current contract by the Minister of State for Gaeltacht Affairs and Natural Resources, Seán Kyne.

Minister Kyne, who is also Fine Gael TD for Galway West, granted approval following the provision of advice by the Attorney General. The original public service obligation contract for the Aran Islands air service had been due to expire at the end of this month.

A slam poetry competition will take place in Thoor Ballylee, the former home of WB Yeats on Saturday October 15, and performance poets are being invited to apply for one of 10 places at the event. This is the first competition of its kind to be held at the tower house.

This event will be MCd by Galway poets and former Cuirt Grand Slam winners Elaine Feeney and Sarah Clancy who, jealous of the attention being given to the other poets, may decide to perform some of their own poems in the interval.
