Hi, my name is Kieran O Malley, I’m from a beautiful part of Mayo called Bonniconlon, located in the foothills of the Ox mountains, close to Ballina. I moved to Galway in 2000 when I came here to study marketing in GMIT and spent seven incredibly happy years in the place, during which time I had the honour of being Student Union President amongst other roles. I currently work as part of the digital marketing team for the Connacht Hospitality team, which includes An Pucan, 1520, Hyde Bar, The Connacht Hotel, The Forster Court Hotel, the Residence Hotel and Active 24 Fitness. Outside work I enjoy soccer and blogging, my blog The Galway Player has helped to develop a greater understanding and appreciation of this amazing city and its people. The business community of Galway have been unbelievably supportive of my blog and I endeavour to return the favour whenever possible through my social media channels. My favourite thing about Galway is definitely the people and my favourite place is the Prom in Salthill where I can be found most free evenings.

Safe Pass courses at Western Management Centre

Anyone working in the construction industry will be familiar with the Safe Pass course and the fact that the card must be renewed every four years. You cannot enter or work in any type of site or company, that has construction in progress, without having a Safe Pass card. Even if you are only carrying out maintenance, painting, or landscaping work, etc, you still need the card.

To get your Safe Pass card you must complete a one-day course. You do not need previous experience in the building industry to do the course as the focus is on general safety awareness.

Traditionally St Pat’s enrolled boys only from second to sixth class, but is embracing changes to respond to the rapidly evolving needs of education in a modern, cosmopolitan, city. After the enthusiastic reception at New York’s Waldorf Astoria Hotel on June 23 1919, Eamon de Valera was deluged with invitations. For the next 18 months he kept the cause of Ireland before the American public. Criss-crossing the country he addressed public meetings, and state legislatures, receiving on the way a plethora of honorary doctorates, including being adopted as a chief of the Indian Chippewa nation. He quickly won the goodwill of William Randolph Hearst and his chain of newspapers. He was given maximum publicity wherever he appeared, which proved to be an effective answer to British propaganda.
