Insulate now with grant of up to €3,250 available

Thu, Jul 18, 2024

With the Government grant still in place, West Coast Insulation is recommending homeowners take advantage of the current grant scheme. The scheme to install upgraded insulation has increased the amounts involved to €3,250 (detached houses), €2,550 (semi-detached), €2,050 for mid-terrace and €1,550 for apartments. This usually covers a large percentage of the overall cost of the work and the works can usually be completed in one working day.

Homeowners can contact the Galway company for a free quotation for cavity wall and attic insulation. Furthermore, West Coast Insulation, which has been in business since 2009, will look after all application forms to make the process as simple as possible for homeowners. When insulating a house, the company injects EcoBead Platinum Bonded Bead in the cavity walls even when there is existing Aerobord insulation. This significantly improves the heat retention and also fills in any gaps in the older insulation. The company keeps injection holes close together to ensure the walls are filled 100 per cent and that the bead is packed as tightly as possible. The company installs Knauf rolled insulation and Rockwool pumped attic insulation in the attics of houses. John Folan of West Coast Insulation noted: “Most attics have some existing fibreglass insulation at around 100-150mm depth. The problem with fibreglass is that it shrinks over time and needs to be upgraded. We install Knauf or Rockwool insulation to 300mm, giving the best U-values possible. It also fits the insulating jackets and lids around the tanks, fits heavy duty 19mm lagging on the pipes and insulates and draughtproofs the attic's doors to eliminate draughts.
