THE CÚIRT International Festival of Literature is seeking submissions for Cúirt New Writing Prize 2012.

There are two categories this year: poetry and fiction. There will be a cash prize of €500 given to the winner of each category. The two winners will also have the chance to read during Cúirt at the Cúirt/Over the Edge Showcase on Wednesday April 25.

THE DANCER Bernadette Divilly will hold a workshop, entitled Making Connection, in St Nicholas Parochial School Hall, this Saturday and Sunday.

Bernadette was awarded a masters’ in somatic psychology/dance movement therapy from Naropa University Boulder Colorado in 2002. From 2008 to 2010 she was dance artist in residence with the Galway City Council.

Galway Peace Proms take place next month

THE GALWAY Peace Proms, featuring the Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland and more than 1,800 primary school children from county Galway, take place next month.

The gala proms will be held in the Kingfisher Hall of NUI Galway on Saturday February 4 at 3pm and 8pm and on Sunday 5 at 2pm and 7pm.

KATS, THE Knocknacarra Amateur Theatre Group, is holding auditions for its forthcoming production of The Vigil by Ladislas Fodor.

The auditions will be held in Joyce’s Meeting Rooms at 8pm on Monday January 23. There is a large cast list and parts are available for all levels, from beginner to experienced actors.

Peneleapaí sings original and traditional songs as Gaeilge and in English. She also plays fiddle and guitar. Miriam Donohue is a singer/songwriter, based in Galway city. She is currently working on her debut album which will be released later this year.
