DUBLIN METAL band Zom will make their Galway debut when they play Richardson’s, Eyre Square, this Saturday at 8.30pm as part of a four band metal and hardcore show.

Zom have created a stir in the Irish metal community since playing their first gigs earlier this year. The band’s demo recording has also proved popular and what few copies there were have already been snapped up by eager fans.

The annual Galway A Vibe for Phil Lynott, to mark the 26th anniversary of his passing, takes place in Monroe’s Live from 10pm. Performing on the night will be Thin Lizzy tribute band Remembering Lizzy, performing the best known and loved of Lynott’s songs.

Limited places left for Chekhov Workshop

ACTOR/DIRECTOR Max Hafler is hosting a workshop on the Chekhov technique on four Sundays in January and February.

The Chekhov technique uses body and imagination as the springboard for voice and character. This course is for people with some experience of the Chekhov technique. Participants will focus on a particular aspect of the technique in depth and move on to create scenes and atmospheres from Shakespeare’s Measure for Measure.

Creative writing class with Celeste Auge

GALWAY-BASED writer Celeste Auge, who won the Cúirt New Writing Prize for fiction, will host a creative writing class in the Galway Arts Centre aimed at those interested in writing fiction.

The workshop will take place on Wednesdays from 7pm to 8.30pm and run for 10 weeks, starting January 18. It is open to all levels, from beginners to more experienced writers.
