This is the first entry in a bizarre, tongue-in-cheek, but fascinating journal which the nephew found in the first of a 40 pallet book consignment just received from a US dealer. Knowing my growing interest in jazz and particularly in the Parisian jazz scene from the 1930s to the 1960s, he duly passed it on to me.

GALWEGIANS INTERESTED in entering the Doire Press 2012 International Poetry & Fiction Chapbook Competition have until Monday January 9 to do so.

The competition is accepting one short story of 4,000 words or four to six poems (10 pages maximum. Entries must include a cover page with full contact information, the title of the story or first poem. The entrant’s name must not appear on the manuscript.
