Make May the month to visit the National Museum Of Ireland

1. National Treasures - The Exhibition

The museum has just launched a new temporary exhibition, called National Treasures. The exhibition arises out of the hugely popular RTÉ television programme of the same name, which saw John Creedon and a team of curators travel around the country to assess a fascinating mix of social history objects from the last 100 years.

Members of the public submitted more than 5,000 objects to the National Treasures project and the programme selected 70 fascinating items to go on display. The selected objects include a Bosco mug; a model Singer sewing machine, an early breast pump; an electric clock; a programme from the historic Munster victory over the All Blacks in 1978; and badges from the marriage equality campaign in 2015. Admission is free. The exhibition continues until August 31.
