Connemara is celebating double All Ireland victories in Olympic Handball after local secondary school Gairmscoil na Piarsach won the boys’ u-15 final and the girls’ u-17 titles.
In the boys’ decider the Rosmuc team played Ard Scoil Ris from Dublin and dominated throughout to emerge winners by 18-5. The girls took on the host team Ballinteer in their final and were always in control in a 13-7 victory.

Two men who know what it is like to beat the likes of Kerry in All-Ireland finals, back when Galway were the kingpins of Gaelic football in the 1960s. And men who had the dedication and commitment to take on the senior managerial reins to try to bring significant success back to the county.

After the harrowing defeat to Mayo on Sunday, county players will be glad to go back to the bosom of their club and worry about county football at a later date.

In an amazing finish to the season, the club’s grade seven and grade nine teams came out on top at the Baldoyle Badminton Centre in Dublin - the first time two teams from the club had made it to All Ireland final day - while the Galway Lawn Tennis Club team won the grade eight title.
