Almost €350,000 yet to be claimed by Galway Lotto players

Anyone who purchased a lotto ticket recently would be well advised to have a look in a handbag or trouser pocket as two winning slips sold in the city remain unclaimed.
The first is a Lotto Plus Two prize of €250,000 which was won by a lucky player who purchased the ticket in Happy Days in Galway Shopping Centre, on Wednesday October 19. The lucky ticket was a €4 quick pick.

A burglar, who had put a woman in fear by creeping up the stairs towards her bedroom thereby violating her personal space, claimed that he had been asked by an associate to move furnitive, this despite the incident taking place in the early hours of the morning.
The lame excuse was given by Romanian national Marian Linguer (35), of no fixed abode but with a former rental addresss in Loughgeorge, Claregalway, who pleaded guilty at Galway District Court on Monday to the offence of entering a building at Raleigh Row, Galway, as a tresspasser with the intention of committing theft of one Fujifilm camera, €150 cash, and one Apple iMac computer, on April 22, 2011.

The case of a man who threw his then girlfriend on to a bed, fracturing her spine, before humiliating her by sitting with his genitals in her face was described as “sickening” by a District Court judge this week.
Judge Mary Fahy made the comments at Galway District Court on Monday during a hearing in which Lukasz Szutowski (27) with an address at 10 Durabaun, Roscam, denied assaulting the woman causing her harm at a previous address at Ocean Drive, Oranmore, on September 26, 2010.
