Additional 215,000 people eligible for GP Visit Cards says Rabbitte

Minister of State Anne Rabbitte, has welcomed the news that an additional 215,000 people in Ireland are now eligible for the GP Visit Card Scheme. The Galway East TD is also encouraging people to check their eligibility in the wake of expanded criteria.

November is National Men’s Health Month, and we are excited to celebrate and bring awareness to students within the college. We started off this past week with a simple coffee morning to get the conversation flowing. We will follow on with an awareness campaign, giving students a chance to speak with a diverse range of charities and companies. We will finish off the month with our societies raising money for a charity of their choice. There will be many different fundraisers, with one student even promising to shave his head when €1,000 is raised.

Experimental artist Kristy Verenga has opened her ‘Who Am I?’ exhibition which combines media to explore the question at The Gallery Café in Gort. Kristy uses painting and sculpture to build the world that she calls home, these abstract and symbolic narratives are an expression of her daily experience.

Using oil paint on a wax ground and sometimes a texture like sand which also lets the drawing remain visible as part of the dynamic whole, she makes her own paper clay for the sculpture, which process emerged as a pandemic palliative. The images in her work are both playful and expressive of this interior dialogue.
