Galway City Councillor Alan Cheevers has welcomed the commencement of CCTV installation in Ballybane as part of ongoing efforts to tackle illegal dumping and fly-tipping in the area.
Cllr Cheevers said the initiative marks an important step towards addressing a long-standing issue that has affected the local community for many years.
“I warmly welcome the installation of CCTV cameras in Ballybane. Illegal dumping and fly-tipping have been persistent problems, and this investment will play an important role in deterring those responsible while helping to protect and enhance our local environment,” he said.
The project has been delivered through a collaborative effort involving Galway City Council’s Environment Department, local residents, and the Ballybane Tidy Towns Committee,” he said.
Cllr Cheevers saod that this is an excellent example of what can be achieved when the Council and the local community work together.
“I want to acknowledge the commitment of Galway City Council’s Environment Department, the Ballybane Tidy Towns Committee, and the many local residents who have worked tirelessly to improve the area.
“This initiative is about taking back pride in our community, protecting our environment, and sending a clear message that illegal dumping will not be tolerated. I look forward to seeing the positive impact these measures will have for everyone living in Ballybane.”
Cllr Cheevers encouraged residents to continue supporting local environmental initiatives and to report incidents of illegal dumping to Galway City Council, ensuring Ballybane remains a cleaner and more attractive place for all.
