Changing course choices with the CAO change of mind form

Thu, Jun 19, 2025

Now that many students have completed the Leaving Cert, it is an ideal time to reflect on their previous CAO choices and avail of the change of mind facility, based on anticipated exam results. The change of mind form is open until July 1 at 5pm and students can change their mind as many times as they like, up until this date, free of charge. No further CAO changes can be made after July 1. Students should avoid last minute changes to reduce any potential errors and complete the form well in advance of the deadline. It is important to note that courses marked as ‘restricted courses’ typically require assessments or interviews and must have been included in the original CAO application before the closing date of February 1, 2025. Students are therefore unable to apply to ‘restricted courses’ with the CAO change of mind facility.

Treating sinusitis and its related symptoms by acupuncture and manipulation

Thu, Jun 12, 2025

Sinusitis is a common condition that affects many people each year. It occurs when the sinuses—the air-filled spaces in the nose and head—become inflamed and swollen, often as a result of an infection following a cold or flu. Allergies, such as pollen in the summer, can make symptoms worse. While most cases of sinusitis clear up on their own within two to three weeks, it becomes chronic sinusitis (chronic rhinosinusitis) when the symptoms persist for 12 weeks or longer after repeated episodes of acute sinusitis. This condition can affect both adults and children and can significantly impact your quality of life.

Sinusitis causes mucus buildup, leading to nasal congestion, difficulty breathing through the nose, and a feeling of fullness or pressure in the face. It can also be accompanied by nasal polyps and persistent swelling of the sinus lining. Common symptoms include headaches, a runny or blocked nose, green or yellow mucus in the sore throat due to postnasal drip, facial pain or tenderness around the eyes, cheeks, forehead, and a reduced sense of smell and taste. Sinusitis can also disrupt your sleep and concentration, leading to fatigue and reduced mental clarity, which may interfere with your ability to carry out daily tasks. In children, symptoms may include irritability, difficulty feeding, or mouth breathing.
