ECOFUEL™ winter giveaway to give €10,000 back to the community
Thu, Oct 02, 2025
Winter in the west has its own rhythm - the first frosts, shorter days, and that moment when the fire becomes the heart of the home again. ECOFUEL™, founded here in Galway in 2014, has been part of that story for over a decade, delivering kiln-dried firewood and wood briquettes to families across the county and beyond. Since expanding to Dublin in 2020, the company now ships nationwide, but Galway is still where the journey began.
This year, ECOFUEL™ is marking the season in a different way: by giving something back. The ECOFUEL™ winter giveaway will see 80 winners share €10,000 in gift cards, with prizes ranging from €100 to €1,000. Entry is free, one entry covers the entire draw, and winners will be announced in early December, just in time to brighten Christmas.

Take Mary, for example. Last winter, she visited Patrick after weeks of sinus issues and fatigue. Thu, Sep 25, 2025
As a student who has just done the Junior Cert, I had the option to do Transition Year (TY) or skip to fifth year. I chose to do TY. The reason I did this was to take a break from the academic year, the constant routine of homework, exams and stress. TY is going to give me a chance to take a break from this. This year is going to open up a lot of new experiences for me as I get to try new things and figure out what I like, and maybe guide me towards my future.
One thing that I have already done this year is to take part in my school's TY mentor programme for incoming first years. Doing this, I had to help the new students find their way around, help open their lockers, play games and introduce them to their new school. I enjoyed this job so much, as I remember when I was in first year and was so nervous and scared.
