IN JANUARY, the Galway Arts Centre will host a choice of three poetry workshops, facilitated by the acclaimed poet Kevin Higgins.
There will be classes on Tuesdays, from 7pm to 8.30pm, starting January 17 and on Fridays from 2pm to 3.30pm, starting January 20. Both are open to both complete beginners as well as those who have been writing for some time.

GALWEGIANS INTERESTED in entering the Doire Press 2012 International Poetry & Fiction Chapbook Competition have until Monday January 9 to do so.
The competition is accepting one short story of 4,000 words or four to six poems (10 pages maximum. Entries must include a cover page with full contact information, the title of the story or first poem. The entrant’s name must not appear on the manuscript.

THE WESTERN Writers’ Centre presents a lunchtime reading by poets Fiona Clark Echlin and Mary Ellen Fean this afternoon at 1pm at the Galway City Museum.
Fiona Clark Echlin has recently published a collection of sonnets and villanelles, entitled From The Rib (Revival Press). Mary Ellen Fean has published work in The SHOp and Revival.
