THIS WEEKEND sees the big-screen release of Sonny and Skye production’s romantic comedy, Songs For Amy, much of which was filmed in and around Galway city and county.
Divided between the west of Ireland and New York; Songs For Amy follows the plight of musician Sean O’Malley (played by Sean Maguire) as he tries to redeem himself with bride-to-be, Amy (Lorna Anderson), after a debauched stag do.

KING LEAR, one of Shakespeare’s great tragedies, is to be staged by the National Theatre in London, and broadcast live via satellite to Galway.
Directed by Academy Award winner Sam Mendes (American Beauty, Revolutionary Road), and starring Simon Russell Beale (My Week With Marilyn) in the title role, the play will be screened at The Eye tonight at 7pm.

THE USUAL Suspects, one of the all-time great crime thrillers, will be given a special screening in Galway by The Jameson Cult Film Club.
