Thousands of free course opportunities available for unemployed, self-employed, and those returning to work

The Springboard+ 2021 programme will offer 10,158 free and subsidised places on 294 courses this year. Some 1,100 places on one and two year ICT graduate conversion courses are also on offer under the initiative.

Details of this year's initiative were announced this week by Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, Simon Harris, and Minister of State for Skills and Further Education, Niall Collins.

GMIT expands apprenticeship course offerings

GMIT has secured circa €1.8 m from the Higher Education Authority to increase the number of apprenticeship courses at its Galway (Dublin Road) and Letterfrack campuses from September 2021.

The funding will allow for an increase in places on GMIT’s electrical apprenticeship courses in the Galway city campus and the delivery of a new wood manufacturing and finishing apprenticeship course in the GMIT Letterfrack campus.
