Medtronic senior hurlers suffered heartbreak when they lost by the minimum, 2-16 to 1-18 , against a strong Dunreidy team from Kilkenny in the recent Interfirms All Ireland semi final in Duggan Park, Ballinasloe.
Medtronic, who were weakened by a number of injuries, were dealt a further blow just before throw in when Iarla Tannion was unable to start due to a knee injury. They did, however, put up a great fight, only to be denied by a late Joe Maher point at the end.

The final day of the indoor juvenile athletics year took place in Athlone with the All Ireland Relays. The outstanding local club on the day with two winning teams was Galway City Harriers, with its u-17 and 18 girls both winning gold medals, while the club’s u-18 boys claimed silver and u-19 girls took bronze.

The weather was absolutely Baltic in Tuam stadium last Saturday evening for the Galway and Mayo U-21 Connacht semi-final.
Some locals from around Corofin, Cortoon, Killererin and Annaghdown, subsequently admitted under duress, that they headed straight from the venue to the "leaba" with hot water bottles in tow to try and warm up their aging bones.
