Encouraged by a fine win over champions, Dundalk, Galway United will hope to deliver a similarly effective display against St Patrick’s Athletic at Richmond Park tomorrow (7.45pm).
Vinny Faherty headed the only goal of a lively SSE Airtricity League game against Dundalk, who were frustrated by a defiant display from the Tribesmen, and the Moycullen native wants United to build on the Dundalk victory in the coming weeks and months.

This time last year Clarinbridge native Micheál Donoghue and Michael Ryan were helping Eamon O'Shea in the backroom of the Tipperary senior hurling team which was beaten by Anthony Cunningham's Galway. The Galway minor footballers secured a last four spot against Donegal in Croke Park on August 21 with a solid 3-10 to 0-12 victory over Laois in Tullamore last Saturday. Galway goalkeeper Cormac Haslam was in tremendous form for Stephen Joyce's charges and he made some top class saves to keep the O'Moore men at bay. It was fortunate for Galway that Haslam made those saves and that Laois were quite wasteful in front of goals or the game would have gone down right to the wire.

Radisson Blu Streets of Galway 8K 2016 - race preview
Galway’s biggest road-race takes place this weekend, as the 2016 event sees the 31st running of the iconic Streets of Galway 8K road-race. The Galway City Harriers' organized event, which is sponsored this year by the Radisson Blu Hotel and Spa Galway, takes place on Saturday August 6 at 7pm. This year the race will have 3,000 participants with many top Irish athletes competing including some Irish internationals and top local road runners as well as thousands of fun runners and joggers.
