Located at 10 William Street West, the Massimo Winter Wonderland sees Galway’s best 'catch-up with pals pub' undergo a total metamorphosis as the entire venue is transformed into a cosy Scandinavian lodge complete with oak beams, a roaring wood-log fire, gingerbread house and a forest of up-cycled trees under the creative direction of artist and under the creative direction of artist and designer Pete Casby. The Massimo Winter Wonderland encompasses a beer garden where magic elves will make it snow at different times throughout the day when Dean Martin is heard singing ‘Let It Snow’, while also housing a special ‘wishing well’ from which the funds will go to the Galway Samaritans, a not-for-profit mental health support organisation.

Major 1,150-bed hospital for Galway by 2031

A new 1,150 bed acute hospital is to be developed on the 150-acre Merlin Park site. The facility, which will replace the current University Hospital, will cost in the region of €2 to €3 billion and is expected to be completed by 2031.

The national insurance crisis has hit home this week with local charity, Galway Community Circus, falling victim to a lack of cover for their activities. Classes were cancelled last week at the centre in Shantalla, leaving 650 members with no activities to attend. The company has been searching for possible insurers for the past three months, approaching more than 130 brokers.

Students gather in Galway to discuss how to protect Europe in light of an uncertain future

The European Youth Parliament Ireland will assemble in Galway this weekend (22nd-24th of November) for their annual Connacht Ulster session.The main focus will be on discussing issues like how we can protect the future of the EU while dealing with other topics like globalization and the rise of radical nationalism, through a mock parliament setting. A very relevant change for these Irish students will be the the challenges of rural areas in a globalized Europe.

A discussion will place in a welcoming environment, a safe space to develop and express their opinions, build an intercultural understanding gain democratic citizenship skills.
