THE BLUE Teapot Theatre Company will hold its Ultimate Movie Music and Theatre Table Quiz in Lohan’s Bar, Salthill, on Friday April 20 at 8pm.
As well as testing your knowledge of arts and entertainment, the quiz promises to be fun and there will be food and raffle prizes. Fancy dress is not mandatory but there will be a prize for the best movie, music, or theatre star costume.

Last week marked the beginning of the twinning of the town of Oranmore and the Breton village Clohars-Fouesnant, organised by the Oranmore Twinning Committee and its chairperson, Gerardine Costello. A group from the village arrived in Ireland and was greeted by members of the committee before they commenced their busy week-long visit to the west.

A man who assaulted an elderly woman after failing to take medication for his psychological problems and consuming alcohol has been given a five month suspended sentence.
Peter Klap (46) with an address at 15 Gaelcarraig Park, Newcastle, pleaded guilty at Galway District Court on Monday to assaulting a woman and threatening and abusive behaviour at Cookes Corner, Newcastle Road.

A shortage of nurses at the ophthalmology department at University Hospital Galway has resulted in the suspension of public clinics for the treatment and monitoring of eye diseases.
It is understood that patients who contacted the local health service for regular check-ups at the clinic last week were told that all appointments had been cancelled and clinics could not take place due to the lack of nurses.

Female Artists of the Twentieth Century and 21st Century Icons will be officially launched this Monday at 6pm. The exhibitions come from The Niland Collection, The Model in Sligo, and the National Craft Gallery in Kilkenny.
