Without getting into facts and figures it is fairly clear most of us are, to put it delicately, not as well off as we would like to be. With that in mind, this Christmas when it comes to buying gifts make sure they are practical.
Of course being practical does not necessarily mean being boring. If your sister loves to be pampered, buy her a shower wash or body lotion to go with her favourite perfume, or pick up a luxurious hand cream or hair products. This way you are giving her something special, and probably something she would never buy for herself, but at the same time something you know she will get use out of. Similarly if a loved one is planning to get in shape for the New Year, a gift voucher for a leisure club is a great way to get him or her on the road to fitness.
