Galway United will be holding a general knowledge table quiz in The Goalpost, Woodquay, on tonight (Thursday November 24 (9pm). The entry fee is €40 per table of four.

2012 Galway United season tickets are now on sale from the club office at Terryland Park, from O'Briens Newsagents, William Street, Galway, and from Ronan Coleman 087-6972823. Adult and concession tickets cost €99, secondary school tickets cost €59, and a family rate of €300 is also available. Cuddy calls for ‘urgent action’ on unsafe roads

People requesting the Galway County Council carry out road repairs are being told it will be after Christmas before the works are carried out, according to Independent councillor Jim Cuddy.

Cllr Cuddy is now questioning the county council’s ability to carry out essential maintenance on roads and he has called for urgent action by the county manager Martina Moloney on this issue.

The Transition Year Students of Gairmscoil Mhuire, Athenry and St Raphael’s College, Loughrea, were presented with their certificates from Pat Dillon of the Sunflowers Chernobyl Childrens Charity, for their efforts in raising awareness and money for the Sunflowers Christmas Craft Fair Fundraising Event, which is to be held at the Raheen Woods Hotel on Sunday December 11. The students entered a poster competition, Georgia Dennis Hurlock and Ceire Maher of Gairmscoil Mhuire and Annabel Hynes of St Raphael’s College, were joint winners.

Zumbathon — the mega zumba fitness party this weekend

Zumbathon 2011 will be held on Sunday November 27 at St Marys College, Galway from 12-3pm (registration from 11.30am). For anyone who hasn't heard of Zumba, it is a Latin dance fitness programme created originally in Columbia during the 1990s and is a fun way to fitness.

The Zumbathon is the brainchild of Yeliz Royle, who herself teaches Zumba in Moycullen and Galway city. Many of Irelands equally talented Zumba instructors, including dancer Heather Gordon, whose professional career includes Lord of the Dance and Gaelforce will be leading this three-hour Zumba jamming dance party.
