The Galway county council has backed a motion that could potentially see the All-Ireland winning senior and minor hurling teams travel to the The White House for St Patrick's Day next year.
The proposal, tabled by Loughrea area councillor Michael Fahy, asked county CEO Kevin Kelly to write to the Irish ambassador to the USA requesting both victorious hurling teams to be invited to the White House on March 17.
