The Galway based All4Baby nursery store continues to thrive after being short-listed in two coveted awards recently. Last month the business was announced as a finalist for the SMA Maternity & Infant Awards 2012 for Best Local Baby Store in Ireland, and in the last week it made the finals in Junior Chamber Galway Young Entrepeneur 2012 awards.

An exhibition will open on November 17 in the Enjoy Cafe, White Gables in Moycullen at 6.30pm to showcase the photos of the One Day project. All money pledges on the night will be donated to Sonas, the local group for the elderly in Moycullen.

The Clayton Hotel will host a coffee morning in aid of COPE Galway tomorow November 2 from 9am to 11am at its newly refurbished coffee dock. All proceeds made from food, beverages, and raffle tickets sold throughout the morning will be donated to COPE Galway.
There will be a raffle on Friday morning, where there will be great prizes on offer including weekend breaks, and vouchers for dinner and lunch in the Clayton Hotel. The Clayton has recently renovated the coffee dock and transformed it into the perfect place for casual lunches with friends, formal client meetings, or a quiet coffee and scone. Orsi Maguire, meeting and events manager at the Clayton, said: “This is a charity that is very close to our hearts and we are delighted to be hosting the coffee morning for such a wonderful cause.

The Irish-American vote used to be a sure thing. If you were Irish-American, you voted Democrat. It was as simple as that. When I was growing up in 1950s Chicago, Republicans were like another species. An analogy from Baseball. As a Chicagoan, you supported either the White Sox or the Cubs. It was a tribal thing. My family were White Sox fans. So I was a White Sox fan. Cubs fans, on the other hand, were weird. Why would anyone support the Cubs? In much the same way, Republicans were weird too. Why would anyone support the Republicans? If you were Irish-American, even to pose the question bordered on the ridiculous.
