Discover the Joy2slim method of weight loss

Thu, Sep 07, 2017

Human beings are naturally slim when they engage in the things they like doing for their own sake. Our digestive system has evolved over millions of years and it works perfectly well if we give it a chance. We have lost our habit, but not our ability, to eat correctly. We need to pay attention, not to calorie amounts, but to our internal feedback. We need to pay attention to within, not without. The process is very simple.

Spruce up your garden with Colourfence — the ultimate garden fence

Thu, Sep 07, 2017

The holy grail of fencing is transforming gardens across the UK and Ireland. It may do "exactly what it says on the tin" but let's face it, treating a timber fence can never be called fun.

In fact owning a timber fence is not much fun either with costly, time consuming, maintenance and repairs almost every year. The alternative to timber fencing, that goes up and stays up, Colourfence fencing solutions are made from innovative Colourbond steel. This fencing is virtually maintenance free — just give it an occasional wash down with water to keep it looking as good as new, so you never need to pick up that paintbrush again.

Mainguard Street

Thu, Sep 07, 2017

There was no problem parking on Mainguard Street when this turn of the century photograph was taken. The building to the right was O’Connor’s confectioners and tearooms. They obviously sold newspapers there as well and there was a rate collector’s office in part of the premises. The building was later taken over as a news agency by Mick Holland until it and several others along the street were destroyed in a disastrous fire in May 1967.

A gentle kick under the table

Colours for Champions

Tue, Sep 05, 2017

At this stage of the week I hope the hangover has eased if you joined in the celebrations on Sunday – and Monday – and Tuesday….although I’m sure the sense of euphoria throughout the city and county will last a good while longer, and rightly so. As the champions prepare to return to their well-deserved welcome in the City of the Tribes, as well as towns and villages throughout Galway, the green-fingered might like to consider showing their appreciation in a horticultural way. After all, flags and banners in the county’s colours of maroon and white have fluttered from windows and decked our streets for weeks. Why not include our window boxes, hanging baskets, front gardens and even roundabouts – all areas where the hard working members of our Tidy Towns groups do so much to cheer up and beautify our streets for everyone’s benefit.

I'm Dave, I tell everybody that I'm from Galway. I lived in the Renmore area as a child, but as the son of Hotel Manager's the family ended up in Killarney.
