People of the Tribes: Meet Paul.

Tue, May 08, 2018

Hi, I'm Paul David Murphy and I'm from Ballinrobe, County Mayo but and I live and work in Galway city centre. I've embraced the city with both hands since I moved here in 2009 and I love it. For the last number of years, I've been heavily involved in the Arts and Events scene and I've worked at almost every event and Festival in City. September two years ago I set up Tiny Traders Village. Aside from running this I also work freelance in the Events industry and in hospitality. I also am a semi-professional stand up comedian and I'm just back from a second UK tour with Internet sensations and fellow Galwegians Farmer Michael and Kathleen. I've been unofficially labelled the "busiest man in Galway" by some due to my involvement in "everything" around the town. I absolutely love Galway and I genuinely think its one of the best places to live in the World. Bring on the summer.

People of the Tribes : Meet Andy.

Tue, May 08, 2018

Hi, my name is Andy Cavalleri. I'm an Italian by blood but Irish by heart. My parents moved here from Lake Como back in the mid 70's. We used to travel back to Italy for summer and winter holidays when we were younger, whereas now I try and get over at least once a year to catch up with family and friends. I've always had a keen interest in food and cakes from a young age, and as you do I tried all kinds of work before bouncing back to food and baking. I started trading in the Moycullen Country Market just over 4 years ago selling Spelt cakes at first and now I'm selling flourless cakes and raw vegan cakes too. It's exciting to find different methods in making cakes, I always try to make different cakes packed full of flavour.

Brunch at Salthill’s Ground & Co

Thu, May 03, 2018

There was a time when The Spanish Arch was a car park and there was nothing much on Middle Street except the Augi. That was when BT was still Moon's and Nora Barnacle's house was just another house, before Westside was called Westside and there was nothing Latin about the Latin Quarter — that was the time Salthill was the undisputed centre of all nightlife in the west of Ireland. While those days are long gone, Salthill seems to be reinventing itself once more.

Thu, May 03, 2018

Its function was to control the river level at Galway in the interests of draining, milling, and navigation. It was built at a point in the river where the water descended though rapids.
