Galway Community College's legal secretary, medical secretary, and office administrator course is extremely popular due to its continued success rate. Eighty five per cent of its graduates obtain full-time and part-time employment in a legal practice, medical practice, hospital administration, public service, and as office administrators in multinational companies within six months of graduating. The remainder of the students progress to higher education courses in the GMIT and NUIG and apprenticeship programmes.

This allows applicants to have the opportunity to register a change of course choices, free of charge. Every year there is a surge in last-minute amendments to CAO applications. Students have had more time to research courses and talk to people directly in specific job sectors. The golden rule, as stated many times, is to place courses choices in genuine order of preference.

Huge emphasis is placed on plant identification and students spend some time each week learning and identifying new plants. Another great way to learn plants is to work with them, and from September until the following May students maintain the great collection of plants in GCC.
