GMIT to host free digital skills events as part of Learning Week

Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology is inviting the public to attend a series of free digital learning events in its Mayo and Galway campuses as part of the national All Aboard 2017 initiative. GMIT is one of 16 higher education institutions hosting the initiative in partnership with Ireland’s National Forum for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education, including primary and secondary schools, businesses, and community groups.

Easter revision courses at Mill Street

Enrolments for the Leaving and Junior Cert intensive Easter courses are currently being accepted at The Galway Study Centre in Mill Street. Classes will start on Tuesday morning, April 11, and continue until Saturday, April 15. Bookings will continue to be accepted up to Friday, April 7, provided there are places vacant. However, as many subjects are almost booked out, there is limited availability at this stage.

NUI Galway to host conference on electronic conveyancing and title registration

NUI Galway is organising an international conference entitled ‘The Future is Now! eConveyancing and Title Registration’, which will take place in Galway on April 7 and 8. The conference, which will take place in the Galway Bay Hotel, Salthill, will be chaired by Supreme Court Justice Miss Mary Laffoy and Court of Appeal Judge Michael Peart.

Technology is rapidly transforming the transfer of property, land, and housing in Ireland and across the world. Electronic conveyancing, or econveyancing, is heralded as the future for conveyancing and title registration. This international conference brings together leading world authorities on econveyancing and title registration drawn from academia, legal practice, the Law Society, and the Property Registration Authority.

Mr Ó Máirtín decided to set up Cúrsa Gramco so as to make the learning of Irish an enjoyable and positive experience. The course incorporates an understanding of the nuts and bolts of the language so that students become independent learners. Official launch of new interior systems traineeship tomorrow

The Galway Roscommon Training Education Board (GRETB) Training Centre and Castle Ceilings Ltd, in partnership with the CIF, are getting people back to work via a City & Guilds Level 2 diploma in interior systems – construction. The official launch of this programme will take place tomorrow, Friday March 10, at 1.30pm in the Castle Ceilings Training Academy in Ballybrit. It will be launched by Tom Parlon of the CIF and many of construction's biggest companies will be in attendance on the day.

On successful completion of the traineeship programme trainees are qualified to work within the trade. There are 17 trainees on the current programme who are now out on various sites and being trained by the professionals in the trade.
