Dallas and Fort Worth — sightseeing, shopping, and savouring the Texas lifestyle

Thu, Oct 31, 2019

Have you ever thought of exploring Dallas? It would not be the first place that comes to mind when thinking of an American holiday, however as Fahy Travel travel specialist Caroline O’Toole found out recently, it really should be.

Dallas has many unique escapes for any traveller, the first being the really beautiful Wildcatter Ranch and Resort, a four-star property located a two-hour drive outside Dallas and only 90 minutes from DFW international Airport. The property boasts a 25-mile horse riding trail, guided activities with local Texas cowboys where you will experience the most stunning sights. These include clay shooting, tomahawk throwing, historical Jeep tours, archery, and a new shooting range. If rest and relaxation is what you crave, then the infinity-edged pool and hot tub or a therapeutic massage is also an option.

Treat yourself to an Atlantic break at the Cliffs of Moher Hotel

Wed, Oct 30, 2019

There is something wonderful about seaside villages — and it all comes down to the soundscape. My fascination with that noise began with a reading of E. Annie Proulx’s wonderful book The Shipping News which brought the reader into that space where the crashing Atlantic against the rocks of Newfoundland became a character in the narrative. And so it is here in Liscannor, this beautiful space looking out on that same ocean, where the sound of the waves plays an equal part of everyday life.

ICPPD offers a professional diploma in expressive arts

Thu, Oct 24, 2019

ICPPD is offering a one year professional diploma in expressive arts, described as ‘unique and pioneering in Ireland’. This programme delivered over 10 days is for professionals, or others interested in using creative processes to support expression with clients they are working with.

Christine Moran, academic director at ICPPD and an expressive arts facilitator, writes - “I have never been artistic; I have always been creative. I think we are all creative beings. We all have within us the ability to express ourselves in creative ways, as carpenters, technology designers, decorators, parents, entrepreneurs. In whatever roles we have in life we can find creative ways to solve our difficulties or express our creativity. As creative beings it is important to have means of expression or we get stuck and sometimes become ill. Our inner juiciness dries up, we abandon our playful, curious inner child. Sometimes we need to express things in a way that is beyond our normal knowledge. There are times when we need more than words to describe the multidimensionality of what we are feeling.”
