The online CAO 'change of mind' opened on May 5. Leaving Cert students can avail of this facility until July 1. This allows applicants to have the opportunity to register a change of course choices, free of charge. Every year there is a surge in last-minute amendments to CAO applications. Students have had more time to research courses and talk to people directly in specific job sectors. The golden rule, as stated many times, is to place courses choices in genuine order of preference.

GTI presents art and design future award winners

Galway Technical Institute presents the artists and designers of the future in its 2019 student exhibition. Students from four groups — art: portfolio preparation QQI Level 5; drawing and visual inquiry QQI Level 6; animation QQI Level 6; and furniture making and design QQI Level 5 — will be showing the results of their year’s hard work from Friday May 24 to Tuesday May 28, (excluding Sunday) from 10am until 4pm.

The opening reception is on at 7pm on Thursday May 23 and Meadhbh McNutt, artist, writer, and co-director at 126 Gallery and recipient of 2016 Aesthetics and Art Theory Award from Kingston University London, will be the guest speaker and will formally open the exhibition.

School leavers and mature students who are considering Galway Community College as their further education destination in September 2019 have the opportunity to gather information on all courses, speak with staff, and register for their preferred course on Wednesday May 22 from 5pm to 7pm in the college, located at Moneenageisha Junction.

GCC offers a broad range of Level 5 and 6 courses with tutors developing new courses and new modules in line with industry trends in employment. The Level 6 courses give direct access to second year courses in GMIT following GCC's formal partnership recently. GCC has developed strong links to local businesses with work experience and Erasmus opportunities offered in six specialist departments — business and secretarial; design and technology; film, music and theatre; social care; sport and equine; and science and engineering.
