There was hardly a marriage of two minds greater than that between Hanna Sheehy and Francis Skeffington, who were married in Dublin in 1903, and who committed their lives to many causes, particularly feminism, pacifism, socialism, and nationalism. Hanna was one of the founders of the Irish Women’s Franchise League, determined to win votes for women. Thu, Jun 02, 2016
A great way for children and teenagers to make fast progress at learning and improving their swimming is in Braemor Swimming Club's daily swimming classes, with one-week courses commencing Monday July 4 and also Monday July 11.
Children from as young as three years of age can, and do, learn to swim. Braemor SC believes having a teacher in the water and also one on the side helps young children overcome their fear and successfully learn to swim. At Braemor SC classes they then progress to becoming confident and very competent when swimming in deep water. Swimming promotes health, fitness, fun, and relaxation. Teenagers and children should continue to attend classes until they reach a level where they can swim 10 lengths of a 20 metre pool, they then have every chance of survival should the need arise. Braemor SC is also including an introduction to lifesaving in the advanced class this year.

Where is more beautiful, Connemara or Kerry?
This question, still argued over today, occupied the Pearse children in happier days before the 1916 Rising. Padraig, who had been coming to the west since 1903, and had built a cottage at Ross Muc, said the only way to finally solve the question, was for his mother Margaret, and his two sisters, the elder, also called Margaret, and the younger girl Mary Brigid, to come to Connemara for a holiday. The two men, Padraig and his inseparable brother Willie, set out in advance to get things ready while the three women followed later.
