Water Babies' autumn term of classes starts at the end of August. The term runs for 10 weeks with weekend and weekday classes held in Oranmore, Ballybrit, Salthill, Newcastle, Athenry, and Claregalway.
Water Babies is run by Jamie and Lisa Cobbe and currently teaches some 850 babies and toddlers every week in Galway, Mayo, Limerick, and Sligo.

This new visitor centre on the site of Pearse’s Cottage was launched in November last year and it has been received exceptionally well by both tourists and the local community.

In 1959 the poet Richard Murphy renovated the black-sailed Ave Maria, a traditional Galway hooker, which he used to ferry visitors to Inishboffin, and for a day’s fishing. This comes as this year’s Leaving Cert results show an increase, under the new marking scheme, of student securing top level marks in STEM subjects such as physics, chemistry, biology, technical graphics, and maths.

The PLC Further Education College in Galway Community College offers QQI Level 5 and 6 courses commencing in September. These are full time courses, offered in six specialist departments: social care; business, IT and secretarial; graphic design and motor technology; film, music, and theatre; sport; and science.
Doing a PLC course has many advantages for students who may not fully know their preferred area of study and it also acts as a viable route to higher education courses. GCC's link with GMIT allows Level 6 students to progress their studies entering at year two.
