Galway Community College (GCC) continues to offer a wide range of further education courses. The college offers a unique and very practical course in the form of Motor Technology whereby students get first-hand experience in small student centered learning environment. The eight modules include Motor Vehicle Practice, Motor Vehicle Theory, Engineering Workshop Processes, Communications, Auto Electricity, AutoCAD, Mathematics, Work Experience .

The course helps develop students understanding of both motor vehicle and heavy vehicle. Students who do this course also develop practical engineering skills, problem solving skills and presentation skills/communication skills. In Galway Community College (GCC) students will get to experience working with a variety of garage equipment in our fully kitted out state of the art garage and numerous engineering workshops. Students always enjoy the practical element of the course whereby they complete various tasks safely in a controlled learning environment. Some of the garage equipment students will use on weekly basis include Car Lifts, Engine Hoists, Tyre Balancers, Air Compressors, TIG Welders, Lathes and Milling Machines.
