THE WRITERS Patrick Chapman, Aoibheann McCann, and Cormac Culkeen will read at the next Over The Edge in the Galway City Library on Thursday October 25 from 6.30pm to 8pm.

Dubliner Patrick Chapman has published a number of poetry collections, including Jazztown, The New Pornography, and A Shopping Mall On Mars; as well as the short story collection The Wow Signal. He is also a scriptwriter and has written episodes of the children’s animated television series Garth & Bev and a Doctor Who audio play, Fear Of The Daleks.

The feature length documentary will be screened in the Town Hall Theatre on Thursday November 8 at 2pm and will be introduced by the director.

AS THE dark winter months are rolling in, it is good to know that a celebration of Latin music and dance will brighten up a weekend in November.

The Bachata Open Galway 2012 event takes place in the Radisson Blu Hotel from Friday November 9 to Sunday 11. Bachata is a style of dancing that originated in the Dominican Republic. This will be the first Bachata championship in Ireland, the winner will go to Murcia, Spain, representing Ireland at the championship.

The GUH Arts Trust is interested in artists/curators who wish to engage with their audience by including artists’ talks, workshops, etc, as part of the exhibition. Artists/curators should keep in mind when submitting a proposal that the trust programmes for an acute hospital setting with vulnerable people and this will be considered in selecting exhibitions.
