I DISCOVERED Scottish poet Liz Lochhead in the 1993 Bloodaxe anthology The New Poetry, and a few years later she came to Galway to read at the 1998 Cúirt Festival.

RHIANNA PRATCHETT, the video game scriptwriter for Bioshock, the Overlord series, and the recently rebooted Lara Croft, is coming to Cúirt 2014.
Rhianna, who is also the daughter of esteemed fantasy author Terry Pratchett, will take part in the Cúirt International Festival of Literature’s youth strand, the Cúirt Labs, on Saturday April 12, where she will give a workshop on story telling in video games.

THE YEARS, a collection of poetry by the late philosopher and academic Tom Duddy, is to be launched in Galway city this month.
Mr Duddy was a lecturer at NUI Galway, working in the Department of Philosophy from 1979 until he became ill in 2011. He was also a keen poet. His debut collection, The Hiding Place was published by Arlen House in 2011, and was shortlisted for the Aldeburgh First Collection Prize and the Seamus Heaney Centre Prize for Poetry. Mr Duddy died in June 2012, while compiling his second book of poems.
