HEAVY METAL fan Steve Hughes once was a drummer in a band, but then he decided to step out centre-stage, not as a singer, but as a comedian.

It was a good move as the Australian has enjoyed a great career with his blend of laid-back charm and caustic anti-establishment humour receiving rave reviews and leading to appearances on the BBC’s Michael McIntyre’s Roadshow and Channel 4’s Stand Up For The Week. Now comes his debut solo tour which takes in the Róisín Dubh on Wednesday at 8.30pm.
