Elaine Feeney and Orfhlaith Foyle - in conversation

Scrutable event explores what goes on behind the scenes in an author’s writing world

THE POET Elaine Feeney and the poet and novelist-Orfhlaith Foyle will be in The Black Gate Cultural Centre, St Francis Street, next week, for a public conversation under the heading Writer’s Block, Reader’s Block.

This is the second Scrutable literary event and is on Tuesday March 6 at 8pm. Scrutable events explore what goes on behind the scenes in an author’s writing world - how they think about their work, what hidden work they do, what informs their writing, and the aspects of writing an audience do not normally hear about.

Elaine Feeney is the author of Rise (2017 ), The Radio Was Gospel (2014 ), and Where’s Katie? (2010 ), all published by Salmon. In 2016, Liz Roche Company commissioned Feeney to write for a national production, a record through dance, film and narrative, the experience of being a woman, and bodily choice in Ireland.

Órfhlaith Foyle was born in Nigeria to Irish missionary parents, living there as well as Kenya and Malawi. Her publications include a novel, Belios; short story collections, Somewhere in Minnesota and Clemency Browne Dreams of Gin; as well a book of poetry, Red Riding Hood’s Dilemma.

Writer Aoife Casby will be the chair. Admission is free. All are welcome.
