An international night of tales

A LOCAL storytelling programme called The Community Storytelling Initiative is set to launch the debut performance of a new group of African storytellers next week.

The storytelling will take place on Wednesday at 8pm in the Nuns Island Studio. On the night Ahmed Noor, Isu Okoi, Kafayat Akinsupo, Bilikis Awofodu, and Ade Adekeye, will be telling stories from Africa. The Big Sing Multicultural Choir will also perform.

The Community Storytelling Initiative is run by local storyteller Clare Muireann Murphy and uses stories to promote community integration. Its projects also include a monthly Story Night in The Spirit Centre.

Tickets are €10 and are available on the door from 7pm on the night. The show is not suitable for young children. There will be an afterparty where the audience will get a chance to meet the storytellers and sample African cuisine.
