From wax candles to fragrance lamps and reed diffusers, Yankees is Galway's number one candle shop, and the ideal place to buy a Mother's Day gift.
Located on Lower Abbeygate Street, Yankees was first established in Galway in 2006 by Rachel and Neil McNulty before expanding into Limerick's Crescent Shopping Centre, and Blanchardstown and St Stephen's Green shopping centres in Dublin.
Open seven days week, from 9.30am to 6pm Monday to Wednesday, and Saturday, 9.30am to 7pm on Thursdays and Fridays, and from 12 noon to 6pm on Sundays, Yankees is one of the largest dedicated stores to providing Yankee Candles' products in Ireland.
"We were the first store to have the Yankee Candles' style in Ireland; the same as they would have in America," says managing director Neil McNulty. "It was not just the Yankee Candles stock or layout of the store we wished to mirror, we wanted to replicate the American customer service ethos as well."
Yankees' core business is fragrance candles, home fragrance products, and accessories. There are hundreds of fragrances available at Yankees, but as Neil highlights, the store has many ways of delivering the scent.
"We have candles made from paraffin wax [YankeeCandles] and from soya wax [WoodWick]. We stock an Irish brand, Celtic Candles, which is produced in Dublin and is made using essential oils. There are reed diffusers, fragrance lamps, melt burners and electricmelt warmers; there are so many variations available. We try to cover all the different options that customers may require."
Everything Yankees sells is tried and tested by the Rachel and Neil to ensure it does what it says on the tin.
"Everything we sell is the genuine article and if you want something, but you are not sure what item you would like, we have a fragrance for you. There is guaranteed to be one fragrance among all the stock that we have on display that will be your fragrance."
