Limmy - Scottish comedy sensation plays Galway in June

He's earned the wrath of Trump supporters, now he's coming to Ireland

HE HAS been "reported to the FBI" after a recent Tweet about Donald Trump, and warned by some zealous right-wingers not to travel to the USA. So he's coming to Ireland instead this summer.

He is Limmy, the alternative comedy sensation, who, despite never being broadcast on television directly in England, has become a phenomenon through his podcasts, YouTube videos, and blogs, and which landed him his own TV sketch series on BBC Scotland, Limmy’s Show, which ran for three seasons, won two Scottish BAFTAs, and earned him a slot on Charlie Brooker’s Weekly Wipe.

The Glaswegian, born Brian Limond, will play Galway's Black Box Theatre on Friday June 2, to perform his new That’s Your Lot show, featuring storytelling, chat, and readings from his second book, also called That's Your Lot, which by all accounts is even dafter and darker than his debut publication, Daft Wee Stories. There will also be an audience Q&A and book signing.

But what of that report to the FBI? On Friday January 20, Limmy tweeted 'Looking forward to Trump’s assassi… inauguration' - cue 2,0262,026 retweets and 4,8354,835 likes. However, some Americans took it seriously, with one, under the moniker of Agent Ice saying: "NEVER travel to the USA; the NSA, CIA, FBI, Secret Service and all law enforcement has you under surveillance." Limmy then asked his followers to 'check the replies' after a number of American Twitter users sent quotes of his tweet to the FBI's official Twitter handle.

This is a Róisín Dubh Comedy presents...' event. Tickets go on sale at 9am from Wednesday February 1 from venue box offices and Ticketmaster nationwide. The show is suitable for ages 16+ only.
