Welcome to the Zombie Beauty Salon

THE FIRST Zombie Beauty Salon to open in Galway will take place this month as part of a series of Halloweeen events and classes, including costume making and pumpkin carving, taking place at the Galway Arts Centre.

The Zombie Beauty Salon, open from 12 noon to 6pm on Saturday October 31, will see Fiona Hession and Claire Davis, along with Macnas make-up artist Michelle Ruane, and artist Tara Gleeson, create zombie looks for adults and children. A selection of costumes will also be available.

Fiona, a GMIT sculpture graduate, who has exhibited nationally, and Claire, a fashion graduate of Limerick School of Art and Design, will also lead Halloween costume making camps, where participants will to design and make a costume and use special effects make up. Classes for those aged 11 and under are Tuesday October 27 and Wednesday 28, 9.30am to 3pm; and classes for 12 to 16 year-olds are on Thursday 29 and Friday 30 from 9.30am to 3pm. Camps cost €100 per person, and includes all costume materials.

Pumpkin carving, also with Fiona and Claire, is on Wednesday 28 from 6pm to 8pm. Children must bring a pre-scooped pumpkin, and must be supervised. The workshop is €10 per person, or €30 for a group of four. Refreshments will be served. There will be a prize for best design.
