Award-winning Galway telecommunications company, Alcom, has successfully completed a new systems network installation for Supermac’s throughout Ireland.

Alcom Telecommunications, based in Parkmore, Galway, has upgraded all of Supermac’s and Papa John’s Pizza branches throughout Ireland to an IP platform.

It is a double success for the Galway company which recently received the Ericsson- LG Irish Top Reseller Award for 2013 at the Ericsson-LG Global Partner Conference in Thailand.

Supermac’s joins an established list of high-profile clients such as Top Oil, Elvery Sports, Corrib Oil ,GE Energy, KENTZ, Supervalu, and Barna Recycling to use Alcom which is now set to increase its workforce from a core of five to 30.

Supermac’s MD Pat McDonagh says Alcom had alrady provided excellent service to his company over the last 10 years.

“When it comes to installing new technology in business, you need to know you have around the clock support in the event of anything going wrong. In these tough times knowing that I have a Galway company on my doorstep made it a very easy choice,” he says.

Alcom Telecommunications sales director, John McGrath, on his return from Thailand, says the global Ericsson-LG award was a big boost for the company.

“ Winning this award four years in a row between 2007 and 2010, and again in 2013, represents another major boost for this Galway company. From a core staff of five, Alcom Telecommunications is about to announce plans to increase its workforce throughout the country to nearly 30 staff nationwide in a major expansion of its operations.

“It wasn’t all plain sailing for the company, far from it. We have worked harder in recent years and have survived some tough times during the economic downturn, but we have a very diversified customer base and that was key to being able to hold our own throughout the recession,” he says.

In March 2013, a large contract with the Castletroy Park Hotel in Limerick, and a number of other medical device manufacturing companies in Galway, saw the business return to growth and expansion again.

While Alcom Telecommunication’s core business was the installation and support of business telephone systems nationwide, it has expanded its product portfolio in the past number of years to include IP telephony, data and fibre optic networking, IP-CCTV, and Wifi networks.

Alcom Telecommunications are accredited Ericsson-LG, Avaya and Cisco resellers and is a leading eircom dealer channel partner in Ireland.
