Txütxükan - French Gypsy-folk

FRENCH GYPSY-folk band Txütxükan are coming to Galway to play Monroe’s Live on Friday August 9 at 10pm.

The show is part of their current Irish tour promoting their new album, Surf The River Lee, a reference to the fact that they have spent the last nine months living together in their home studio in Macroom, County Cork.

The band - Joseph Detailleur (accordion ), Dylan Gully (clarinet ), Bruno Hollemaert (guitar ), Joachim Mouflin (percussion ), Eric Belot (bass ), and Stella Rodrigues (gamelan player ) - formed in 2007 and since then have released two albums and played festivals across Europe.

They have also enjoyed critical acclaim. “The music has a fresh kind of pureness and is without any false pretentions,” said Folk World. The Irish Independent said: “These talented Frenchies bring a lively fusion of Balkan and Gypsy music with influences from all over the world.”

Tickets are available on the door or through www.monroes.ie and 091 - 583397. See www.txutxukan.com
