The power of the dress

The party season is around the corner and now is the best time to think about your party dress. At the Glamour in Galway event which took place recently in the Radisson Hotel, I had a little chat with Brendan Courtney from Off the Rails. When I asked him what was his top tip for women in Galway he quickly answered, “Wear a dress!”

Ireland’s top style guru believes that “the power of the dress is amazing. It is one outfit, it very flattering and easy to wear. Women should wear them more often and not only for going out.

“It has never been a better time for consumers,” he also advised. “There is so much to choose from out there and great value too. Women should dress for their shape and try different styles until they find theirs.”

I could not agree more with Brendan. Dresses are the way to go — timeless pieces that will last forever. There are so many styles to suit us all regardless of your age and size. Buy the best you can afford in the right shade and shape.

To feel great this winter, especially this party season, all you need is a selection of dresses for work and party. I particularly love this elegant dark olive dress by Marc Cain from Colette Latchford. The feminine chiffon detail on the top give a little edge to the look, and the small gather at the front will help flatter your shape. For a day look wear it with a cape, knee high boots, and a fur hat. In the evening team it with sexy heels and your favourite clutch.
