Gardai in Galway city are investigating an incident of criminal damage that occurred on Snipe Avenue, off Lower Newcastle Road on Thursday, September 17, shortly after 1am. It was reported that a male smashed the driver’s side window of a vehicle.
The owner of a blue Nissan discovered his vehicle, parked overnight, had been unlocked by force with a number of items taken sometime between 6pm on Wednesday, September 16 and 11am on Thursday, September 17. The incident occurred at the Distillery Road in Newcastle.
Damage to the passenger window and inside of a vehicle parked at the Black Box theatre on the Dyke Road was reported by the owner around 8.45pm on Monday, September 21. It was reported that four males in dark clothing were seen running in the direction of the IMC cinema through the alleyway.

A driver on the Séamus Quirke Road reported three youths throwing eggs at his vehicle as he drove in the direction of Galway city shortly before 7pm on Saturday, September 19. Anyone who may have witnessed this damage being caused or who may have dashcam footage are asked to contact Salthill Garda Station on (091 ) 514720.
Bicycle thefts
The owner of a White Boardman Cycle bike locked in Eyre Square outside the Shopping Centre reported his bike was stolen at some point between 5am and 2pm on Wednesday, September 16.
Similarly, the owner of a Black Trek 2 bike reported it was taken from the bike rack at Spanish Arch. The lock was cut off sometime between 6pm on Wednesday, September 16 and 12pm on Thursday, September 17.
Finally, the owner of a Black and Grey Carrera Mountain Bike reported his locked bike was taken from St Augustine Street in Galway between 7pm on Saturday, September 19 and 12pm on Sunday, September 20.
Gardai would like to remind all bicycle owners in Galway city and country to take extra precautions to keep bicyles safe by locking them in the most secure way possible:
Spend 10-20% of the value of your bike on two locks.
Lock your bike tightly to an immovable object.
Keep the lock off the ground.
Take a photo of your bike, note the serial number and email it to yourself so that you have a record of it.
Lock your bike indoors or in well-lit areas if possible.
