Violinist Sarah Hanniffy and Scottish piper Fionnlagh Mac A’Phiocair will launch their debut album at Club Aras na nGael on Dominick St tomorrow, Friday, July 10, at 7pm.
The Solace from There delves into the cultural roots of both artists, with Mac A’Phiocair, a native gàidhlig speaker hailing from the Isle of North Uist, and Hannify a noted musician from Maree, Co Galway.
Following a successful launch in Glasgow last weekend, the duo is bringing their unique blend of Gaelic traditions from the Hebrides and Ireland home to Galway. Known for their “hauntingly beautiful” sound, Hannify and Mac A’Phiocair create euphonic and vibrant soundscapes using the Scottish smallpipes, viola, and Gàidhlig/Gaeilge song.
Their music has been praised for offering “a genuine, fresh voice” that captivates audiences.
